Watercolour Classes

I have been teaching watercolour classes for beginners at Daisy Chain Scrapbooks in Nambour this year.  They are five week courses covering the basic techniques, and will commence in the new year on 11 January 2012.  Bookings can be made via myself or Daisy Chain.  Photos show student Carmel at the most recent class.

Stephen Roberts - Potter

Stephen is a friend of mine and I have known him for almost 30 years.  He is an excellent potter and well known on the Sunshine Coast.  Recently he and his wife Karri who is also a potter, held an open day at their Palmwoods home/studio.

Automobile Art

I have done a few more car paintings since my last blog.  The Corolla is my own car, the MGTC was for  Richard, the husband of Meg my old primary school friend,  the Ford GT for my friend Kerry's husband Gary, and the V8 2009 Craig Lowndes Pink Vodafone Ford was a commission from a customer of the Gingertown Garage where I sell my cards and prints.

Stonehouse Moore - part of our family history

The Stonehouse is situated a few kilometres past Moore in the Brisbane Valley.  My mother's family lived there in the 1920s while my grandfather worked as a timber getter with a bullock wagon.  Mum was one of eight children and walked to school at Moore with her brothers and sisters.  Her youngest sister Lorna was born at Stonehouse.  Unfortunately it has fallen into disrepair and only the back area that was the kitchen remains.

I went to my studio to do another drawing, and thought this one was more timely.
Go Broncos, and quick recovery Locky!

Cassidy Bros at War - sketches and painting Sept 2011

I'm starting on a new art exhibition and working from photos from World War II.  My father, John Davidson Cassidy, was the oldest of six boys, and five of them went to war.  The youngest boy Gavin, was too young.  Dad was married with two children (I wasn't born until 1944) so did not go over to the UK at the start of World War II like a lot of Australians did, including his brothers Hugh and Jim.  Hugh was in the navy, and Jim in the RAF and both were decorated by the King.  I have started off with a painting of dad with his air crew in New Guinea (he was a Navigator), and since then have worked in my sketch book doing preliminary sketches.

V8s

This is the second year I've drawn the V8s and coloured with Copic pens, not my usual water colours.  I've made them into cards and prints which are for sale at the Gingertown Garage, Ginger Factory, Yandina, Queensland, or directly from me.
